Institution’s Innovation Council has been established at All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) premises with a purpose to systematically foster the culture of Innovation in all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across the country. Institution’s Innovation Council is thus envisaged to network people, ideas, experience and resources to motivate the innovation community in the college. This cell helps to nurture the students’ ideas and encourage them to bring up business proposals. In every session, this cell used to conduct various related activities.

In quarter 1st(session 2024-25), SSDWIT-IIC organized intra-college ‘Quiz Competition- 2024’ on 18th September, 2024. Preliminary round was conducted in the form of written test. Out of 35 participants, 15 students were shortlisted. There were 5 teams comprising 3 participants in each for intra -college quiz competition. There were total four rounds. All the participants witnessed an enthusiastic participation. Team-C of Prisha , Jiya, Kanchan got first position. Team-B (Aarti, Bhumika, Babita) secured second position and 3rd position was won by Team-D comprised with students Bhumi, Dhanisha, Twinkle.
Dr. Neeru Garg (Principal) distributed momentos and certificates to the winning teams and motivated them to always take part in such activities.
SSDWIT- IIC celebrated Independence Day on 14 Aug, 2024. Dr. Monika Bansal (President, IIC) started the event by welcoming the Principal and faculty members. Ms. Simran Kaur gave a speech on Independence Day. After this, Antakshri was played among volunteers. Five teams of all classes sang patriotic songs. The event ended with the speech by Ms. Himanshi. Ms. Ekpreet Kaur concluded the event with a thanks speech. At the end, the national anthem was sung by all the participants. A total of 60 volunteers participated in this event very enthusiastically.
IIC- SSDWIT observed International Yoga Day on 21st June, 2024 in college premises. Ms. Vandana (Yoga Trainer) conducted a yoga and meditation session. Ms. Manisha Bhatnagar (HOD, CS) and Dr. Monika Bansal (President, IIC) welcomed the resource person. On this day, Ms. Vandana demonstrated various asanas to increase the productivity of our health and reduce mental stress. All the faculty members and many students participated in this celebration with fervor and enthusiasm.
IIC-SSDWIT celebrated World Environment Day on 5th June, 2024 in college premises. Dr. Shaveta (Convenor, IIC) along with faculty members planted various saplings in college garden.
Under the guidance of Dr. Neeru Garg (Principal), SSDWIT-IIC , celebrated National Science Day was celebrated on 28th February, 2024. This day was celebrated to commemorate the path breaking discovery of ‘The Raman Effect’ by Sir C. V. Raman. The event was started with the floral welcome of Dr. Neeru Garg (Principal). On this occasion, Slogan Writing and Fancy Dress Competitions were organized. Ms. Tamanna (MBA-2) and Ms. Paramjeet Kaur (MBA-2) highlighted the significance of Science in our lives through their speech. In Slogan Writing, Ms. Sarin secured 1st position, Ms.Bhavya Arora was on 2nd and Ms. Arshdeep Kaur secured 3rd position. In Fancy Dress Competition, 1st position was grabbed by Ms. Bhumi, Ms. Rumpa was on 2nd position and 3rd position was secured by Ms. Ekpreet Kaur Ahuja and Ms. Manveer Kaur. Dr. Neeru Garg distributed certificates and prizes to the winners.
Under the able guidance of Dr. Neeru Garg (Principal), Institution’s Innovation Council of SSDWIT celebrated National Innovation Day on 16th October, 2023 to commemorate the birth anniversary of former President of India Bharat Ratan A.P.J. Abdul Kalam (The Missile Man of India). Ms. Tamanna Singla (MBA-2) delivered motivational speech on preaching of scientist Abdul Kalam ji. His motivational videos were shown that inspired the students to inculcate good habits in life.
On 6th November 2023, a guest lecture was organised on the topic “Advanced Web Designing Tools” for the students of computer science department. Mr. Rajnish Kumar (TCL Infotech) – an eminent resource person in web technologies delivered the guest lecture. He discussed the present trends in web technologies and emphasized the importance of C, core java programming and JSP. He gave some practical examples on the use of data science and artificial intelligence in real life. Further, he explained the advantages and disadvantages of ChatGPT in the current as well as in the future scenario.
‘National Education Day’ was dedicated to the birth anniversary of India’s first education minister Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. On this occasion debate competition was organized on 9th November, 2023. The topic of debate was “Young students can contribute in the field of education by their innovative ideas”. Ms. Manpreet Kaur & Ms. Manisha Devi scored first position and second position was grabbed by Ms. Sukhpreet Kaur, Ms. Paramjeet Kaur and Ms. Simranjeet Kaur, Ms. Tamanna Mishra. This activity was organized for students of management department. All the students participated enthusiastically in these activities. Dr. Neeru Garg (Principal) distributed certificates to the winners.
Under the able guidance of Dr. Neeru Garg (Principal) and supervision of Dr. Monika Bansal (Coordinator, IIC), Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of SSD Women’s Institute of Technology, Bathinda organized Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Awareness Programme on 26th October, 2023. This programme was in joint collaboration of National Intellectual Property Awareness Mission(NIPAM) with the “Intellectual Property Office”, Govt. of India, New Delhi. The expert speaker for this session was Mrs. Pooja Kumar, the Founder and Director of Innove Intellects LLP which was established in 2017. Dr. Shaveta (Co-coordinator, IIC) welcomed and introduced the worthy speaker. The resource person discussed in detail the various aspects of IPR. She elaborated about patents, trademarks, copyrights and designs. She also discussed the procedure to file patents and work on copyrights. After this, the resource person handled various queries asked by the participants. The entire session was highly motivating and extremely informative. More than 200 participants were there in this online session. At the end, the session was concluded by Dr. Neeru Garg (Principal) by proposing vote of thanks. Adv. Sh. Ashutosh Chander (Secretary, SSDWIT) and Dr. Neeru Garg (Principal) appreciated the efforts put by Institution’s Innovation Council coordinator Dr. Monika Bansal (Associate Professor, Comp. Sci. Deptt.) and co-coordinator Dr. Shaveta (Assistant Professor, Mgmt. Deptt.) for successfully organising this expert talk.
In Quarter 3 & 4, Dr. Monika Bansal (President, IIC-SSDWIT ) organized guest lecture on International Women’s Day on 8th March, 2023. The resource person was Dr. Jyoti Bhalla (Mch., Plastic Surgery). Dr. Bhalla enlightened the students about surgical and non surgical cosmetic procedures in her session. She also spread awareness regarding various skin treatments to enhance physical features through laser treatment, cosmetic surgery, hair transplant and body reshaping etc. Poster Making and Slogan Writing competitions were also organized on the theme of “Women empowerment” to celebrate the achievements of women in various fields and also to express the respect, appreciation & love towards the most powerful gender.
IIC-SSDWIT celebrated World Environment Day on 5th June, 2023. On this day, a plantation drive was carried out in which a number of saplings were planted in college premises and also distributed to the faculty members. Adv Sanjay Goyal (President) planted a guava tree and Dr. Neeru Garg (Principal) planted a plum tree in college garden. They motivated and advised all the faculty members to also take care of these plants.
On 13th March, 2023 Intra-Class Group Discussion competition was organized by Dr. Shaveta(Convener, IIC-SSDWIT) in college premises to enhance communication and interpersonal skills of students. Students from both Computer Science and Management Department participated in it enthusiastically. The topics of GD were “Not everyone can be an entrepreneur” , “Life without phone”, “Cashless Society – A failure or success”. The Group Leaders of GD was Meenakshi (MBA-II), facilitator was Paramjeet Kaur(MBA-I) and Initiators were Manisha Devi(MBA-I)and Priya(MBA-II).
An Industrial visit was organized by Dr. Shaveta(Convener, IIC-SSDWIT) to Ambuja Cement Limited, Bathinda (Pb) on 5Th May, 2023. .40 students from Management department and computer science department visited the industry to understand the manufacturing process of cement. This unit is mainly focusing on production of cement.
In Quarter 1 & 2, under the able guidance of Dr. Neeru Garg (Principal, SSDWIT), Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of SSDWIT organized brain storming activities for the students of management and computer science department. Dr. Shaveta (Assistant professor) conducted an activity ‘Presentation on Innovative Business Idea’ for the students of management stream. The students presented their creative ideas for new business ventures. Dr. Monika Bansal (Associate Professor) gave theme of Project Development to the students of computer science department with the motive for giving the knowledge of how to develop games and applications using various programming languages. In this activity, out of 15 participants, 7 students were chosen as best programmers. All the students enthusiastically participated in these activities. The judgment of ‘Innovative Business Idea’ was done by Ms. Neetu Goyal (HOD, Mgt. Dptt.) and Ms. Manisha Bhatnagar (HOD, Comp. Sci. Dptt.). The position holders of this activity were Ms. Manisha Devi (secured 1st position), Ms. Navnoor Kaur (secured 2nd position), Ms. Karanveer Kaur and Ms. Gracy got 3rd position in presenting business ideas. Dr. Neeru Garg (Principal) distributed certificates and prizes to all the participants and motivated them to become good entrepreneur/programmer in future. Adv. Sh.
